Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers
For those who want to advocate for newcomers in need.

What is it?: CARL is the Robson Hall student chapter of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers (CARL). Our objective is to introduce students to immigration and refugee law, human rights issues that arise in this field, and the practical skills that can set you up for success as a professional that supports migrants and their families.
Why Join?: CARL provides great opportunities to meet fellow students that are passionate about migration in Canada and its governing policies. Members often enjoy debate about contemporary issues and engaging with others that share their passion. In addition to networking with your peers, CARL members will have opportunities to connect with lawyers working in the field, as well as the organizations that support their good work.
How to Join?: Sign up as a general member by sending an email to Diana Gutierrez or Syed Ullah. We’ll send you updates about CARL events and committee activities throughout the year. Join us!
We are also looking to expand our Executive Committee. If you have leadership experience or have interest in learning more about being an Executive Director, please send a short statement of interest (250-word max) to our co-chairs, Diana Gutierrez and Syed Ullah.
