The Head Honcho
aka MLSA President
Nadine Plourde
Hi y’all!
My name is Nadine Plourde, I am currently a 3L at Robson Hall and I am your 2024/2025 MLSA President.
A little about myself, before coming to law school I received my BA from the University of Manitoba in Sociology and Religion. I also have grown up always being connected to music, I did voice/musicals, play a few instruments (piano, ukulele, tuba) and used to be a competitive dancer (contemporary, tap, hip-hop and a bunch of other styles as well). In my free time today, you’d probably find me watching Twitch or some comic-based show, Dead Boy Detectives and Snowpiercer are my most recent ones, but I’m always happy to get a new recommendation. Other than that, I’d spend all my time playing with my brother’s 3-year-old if I could, being “Auntie” has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
In my time at Robson, I’ve participated in a few different student organizations, which I think represent a lot of my different identities quite well:
I am a member of the MILSA exec team (Manitoba Indigenous Law Student’s Association), as a person with Indigenous history this has been wonderful group to connect with and support.
I was previously the MLSA’s Students Living with Disabilities Rep; I am late-diagnosed AuDHD (autistic and ADHD) and it has been a privilege to be able to learn how best to represent my peers in this capacity.
I was on the Bilingual Students Association (BSA) exec team last year, and while I’m no longer on that exec, I’m looking forward to everything the team has planned and would highly recommend students join the bilingual program, I love the community I’ve found there and am looking forward to being a part of the first graduating class with my concentration in Access to Justice in French.
I am one of the co-presidents of OUTLaws, our queer student group. As a queer person at Robson, I am happy to support my community here as well.
You’ll find a description of some of the tasks that the President covers in the Executive Responsibilities section, in particular a lot of my job is acting as a bridge between students and faculty. Outside of that a lot of my role is to funnel things to the right people, so if you’re confused about who to talk to about something, I will always try my best to get you connected. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and support you as best I can so if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!
